Here’s one “new moon” that even astrology haters won’t want to miss. Moon Over Salem, a noon-to-midnight music festival featuring over 35 Massachusetts artists, will debut on September 14 at seven venues throughout Witch City. The new event is the creation of Moon, a non-profit organization “dedicated to increasing access to underground music” in the Salem area.
Organizers revealed a fraction of festival’s locally-focused lineup over the weekend (July 5) after teasing the event’s arrival at the end of June. Actor Observer, oldsoul, Winkler, Molly O’Leary, Astral Bitch, and Salem’s own One Fall (pictured above) and Radio Compass are some of the bands that will disperse across downtown Salem to perform at locations like Koto Asian Fusion, the Gulu-Gulu Cafe, Bit Bar, and Old Town Hall. The festival will also pair a flea, art, and vintage market with sets from area DJs like Jon Glass and SiR Rollie.
Early bird tickets are on sale now through July 28; a portion of all sales will go towards Moon’s rising artist scholarship, which offers financial support to local students pursuing music or the arts in college.
