For those of us looking for a bit of Celtic flair ahead of the weekend, look no further than Club Passim, where accomplished fiddlers Mari Black and Troy MacGillivray take the stage to share their toe-tappin’ tunes tonight (June 20) for string enthusiasts in Harvard Square.
Tonight’s show is the Cambridge stop of a thorough tour the duo have embarked on across New England, with shows happening everywhere from Bar Harbor to the Berkshires, but the music comes from much farther away. Black is acclaimed for her work in Scottish fiddle and has performed at nearly every imaginable Celtic music festival across the US; MacGillivray was a young virtuoso in Nova Scotia now known for blending the sounds of Cape Breton and the Scottish Highlands.
Club Passim promises an “explosion of joyous, foot-stompin’ Celtic dance music” on-site from the pair, but those looking to enjoy the sounds of Scotland from the comfort of their homes can opt in to the $5 livestream of the concert.
