Editor’s Note: How the hell is it already June? Aside from the fact that we may or may not have stepped into a time warp (put your hands on your hips), with a new month and nice weather comes even better comedy talent, and maybe a few less reasons to stay inside. So, while we keep searching for where the time and our sanity have gone, we’ll take the chance to remind you that comedy is continuing to do the Lord’s work by giving us something to smile (or groan, wince, or gasp) at. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (June 23).
Pete Davidson at Hanover Theatre
John Mulaney might have “too many a’Pete Davidsons” saved in his phone, but when the SNL alum is in the commonwealth, we can’t get enough of him. Following the release of his latest special earlier this year, Pete Davidson seems to be on a different creative plain than in years past, and we’re here for all of it.
PETE DAVIDSON :: Wednesday, June 19 at Hanover Theatre, 2 Southbridge St. in Worcester, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $54.50 to $94.50 :: Advance tickets
KC Shornima at Laugh Boston
There won’t be much of a chance to fully avoid the onslaught on celebrating Celtics fans on Friday during the parade, but making your way to the Seaport should help out a little, right? Either way, KC Shornima will be there for one night only, fully equipped with her no-holds-barred observational takes and the SNL-writers-room honed joke writing that absolutely kills on stages everywhere.
KC SHORNIMA :: Friday, June 21 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., $33 :: Advance tickets
Andrew Della Volpe at Nick’s Comedy Stop
The local fan favorite and show curator Andrew Della Volpe returns to Nick’s this weekend for a fresh get done with some new material, and that ever-present charm and genuine joy to be delivering straight heat from the stage. Plus, Nick’s has air conditioning, so if you do plan to go out in this eyeball-melting heat wave, the legendary club has you covered while ADV brings the good stuff.
ANDREW DELLA VOLPE :: Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at Nick’s Comedy Stop, 100 Warrenton St. in Boston, MA :: 7:15 p.m., $15.40 to $22 :: Advance Tickets
