Editor’s Note: Welcome to V3 Weekend, Vanyaland‘s guide to help you sort out your weekend entertainment with curated selections and recommendations across our three pillars of MusicComedy, and Film/TV. It’s what you should know about, where you need to be, and where you’ll be going, with us riding shotgun along the way.

Music: The Kid LAROI at MGM Music Hall at Fenway

Most 20-year-olds walking down Lansdowne Street couldn’t get into some of the bars and clubs along the strip, but The Kid LAROI doesn’t need to worry about any of that. The Australian rapper and singer won’t need ID this Sunday (June 16) as he holds court at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway, fresh off getting the Stanley Cup Final party started last week with the Florida Panthers. The artist born Charlton Howard, who popped off after collabs with Juice WRLD and Justin Bieber, is in town for The First Time Tour this week, a 31-date run of North America that enlists special guests glaive and Chase Shakur for the Boston show. The tour is named after his 2023 album The First Time, which features appearances from Jungkook, Central Cee, Future, BabyDrill, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Robert Glasper, and Vanyaland fave d4vd, who we enjoyed immensely at Boston Calling a few weeks back “I am so beyond excited to see you guys & give you this new show,” he writes on Insta. “It’s been way too long.” Especially in teenage years.

THE KID LAROI + CHASE SHAKUR :: Sunday, June 14 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, 2 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., all ages, $40.50 to $90.50 :: Event info :: Advance tickets

Comedy: Josh Adam Meyers at Laugh Boston

It’s a big week for comedy in Boston, and we’re not just talking about the Dallas Mavericks failing to show up in the NBA Finals. Mic’d Up detailed the week in stand-up, and our V3 Weekend pick crashes the Seaport as the J-A-M himself, Josh Adam Meyers, hits Laugh Boston tonight (June 14) for the latest stop on his newly-named Lekka Dog Tour. Her’es Jason Greenough with the word: “Meyers is as ‘rock and roll’ as it comes in comedy. Not only for his penchant to sing his setups and punchlines during his recurring hit live show, The Goddamn Comedy Jam, but even his attitude on stage away from it is brash, in-your-face and free of boundaries in all the best ways possible. Come for the laughs, stay for the positive mëtal attitude.”

JOSH ADAM MEYERS :: Friday, June 14 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: 6 and 9 p.m., $33 :: Advance tickets

Film/TV: ‘Hollywood 90028’ at Alamo Drafthouse

We’re still a week away from going to see The Bikeriders in theaters, so we’re kicking it old school with a Friday night (June 14) screening of Hollywood 90028 at Alamo Drafthouse in the Seaport. The 1973 cult classic horror film, which got the 4K restoration treatment from Grindhouse Releasing, is billed as a “bizarre and terrifying” as it depicts the dark side of Hollywood in the ’70s, and this Ti West (House of the Devil, X) quote via Alamo sums it up: “Somewhere between art film and exploitation. A bizarre, lost, and lonely low-budget time capsule of Los Angeles with a final shot that needs to be seen to be believed.” Peep the trailer below, and read the official synopsis: “Young photographer Mark travels to Hollywood, hoping to make it as a cameraman in the movie business. Unfortunately, the only jobs he can find are shooting porn for a sleazy producer. Depressed and increasingly delusional, Mark begins to release his frustrations by strangling pretty young women.”

‘HOLLYWOOD 90028’ :: Friday, June 14 at Alamo Drafthouse Seaport, 60 Seaport Blvd. in Boston, MA :: 9:30 p.m., $14.49 :: Event info and tickets
