Wasia Project, October 5
There are few things as fascinating as when a band comes to town and absolutely captivates a Boston venue. And there are even fewer safer bets of that happening this year than when Wasia Project plays Brighton Music Hall in Allston on October 5. The English sibling duo of Will Gao and Olivia Hardy have been building a cult-like following on the strength of mesmerizing indie-pop, and the latest gem arrived earlier this year in the sterling and head-spinning “Is This What Love Is?” It’s music for the modern age, urgent and chaotic and swirling with pure emotion. “‘Is This What Love Is?’ describes the experience of uncontrollable emotions, like a car that’s going too fast with someone else behind the wheel,” they reveal. “It questions sadness and doubt in all types of love, and the drama that comes with caring deeply for things.” Catch a rising star, indeed. Tickets go on sale Thursday (May 23) at 10 a.m. local time.
