Now that we’ve crossed over into the sunnier side of Patriots’ Day here in Massachusetts, our playlists shift to something a bit more chilled out and relaxed. Enter Set Feux, the stylish escapist-pop project of Toronto musician Diana Planche.
Last month we looked to the rafters for the sleek synth-pop of “Jumbotron,” and now we gaze eyes upon the new video for “Let Them Stare,” a soulful romp of carefree R&B and dream-pop moods that surfaced on Friday (April 19) in tandem with Set Feux’s debut self-titled album.
While the music of “Let Them Stare” has a calming effect, the inspiration of the track took a little while longer to arrive at its destination. Planche explains: “In my teens I developed a skin condition called vitiligo. It caused me to really struggle with self-acceptance, and I spent years trying to cover it up. It’s a lot of work masking your imperfections. I finally reached a place where I was tired of hiding, I felt like, screw it, let them stare, I don’t care, I don’t need to feel afraid anymore.”
Set your self free with Set Feux below, gliding across both video and album corridors.
