Editor’s NoteMarch may be over, but madness remains in a whole lot of different ways. So, while we keep searching for where the time and our sanity have gone, we’ll take the chance to remind you that comedy is continuing to do the Lord’s work by giving us something to smile (or groan, wince, or gasp) at. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (April 28).

Anthony Jeselnik at Chevalier Theatre

Not even an illness can keep Anthony Jeselnik away from the area forever. The king of cringeworthy comedy makes his way back to town to make good on a few rescheduled dates from last year’s fall tour, and within that time, his hour has gotten even stronger. Now you’ve been warned.

ANTHONY JESELNIK :: Thursday, April 25 at The Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: 6 p.m., $47 to $77 :: Advance tickets

Drew Lynch at The Wilbur

Just as his latest special puts on full display, Drew Lynch continues to be one of the brightest and sharpest joke writers in the game today. With every new hour, there seems to be a new element that further bolsters his approach, so this most recent trip to the most legendary comedy stage in the city is sure to introduce us to a new level of Lynch’s creative force.

DREW LYNCH :: Friday, April 26 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $28 to $36 :: Advance tickets

Robert Kelly at Laugh Boston

There’s just nothing like a homecoming show with the one and only Bobby Kelly. Always one to be a straight shooter, there’s no telling what stories the Medford native will tell, and that’s what makes him one of the most top-notch acts you’ll see. Up front, always real and always focused on bringing the laughs in buckets.

ROBERT KELLY :: Friday, April 26 to Saturday, April 27 at Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: 6 and 9 p.m. both nights, $33 :: Advance tickets
