This Show Is Tonight: girl in red socks it (gently) to Lansdowne Street

Norwegian alt-pop mainstay girl in red is prepping her “biggest show to you ever”, and it all starts here in Boston with an appearance tonight (April 16) at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. It’s the kickoff for the Doing It Again World Tour, named for the new girl in red album I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, which dropped last week. Hopefully you scored a signed copy of it when Ulven hit up Newbury Comics over the weekend.

Making this show all the more exciting is that Vanyaland faves Momma are on board as direct support. So it’s definitely worth battling the Red Sox masses on Lansdowne in order to get into MGM on the early side.

Back in February, girl in red shared the lead single from I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, a vibrant indie bop called “Too Much.”

Ulven has this to say about it: “I’ve always been told I’m ‘Too Much’. Throughout my whole childhood and in my adult years. Getting shut down when I’m at my happiest or most excited made me feel self-conscious, alienated, and weird… It wasn’t until I encountered the same feeling in my relationships, that I realized how much it actually hurt me to never feel fully accepted for who I am. As well I think culturally people tend to be too cool to have fun or to show true excitement and emotions, and I’m so tired of that facade.”

That shouldn’t be an issue this evening.
