Editor’s NoteMarch may officially be over, but madness remains in a whole lot of different ways. So, while we keep searching for where the time and our sanity have gone, we’ll take the chance to remind you that comedy is continuing to do the Lord’s work by giving us something to smile (or groan, wince, or gasp) at. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (April 14).

Ali Siddiq at Shubert Theatre

In a vast sea of storytelling comics, Ali Siddiq has continuously built onto his incredibly strong and emotionally moving chops, resulting in more than one critically-acclaimed special delving into the darkest corners of his life. As fearless as they come, Siddiq is all about keeping it real, and the level-up to the spacious confines of the Shubert is evidence of that.

ALI SIDDIQ :: Friday, April 12 at Shubert Theatre, 265 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6 p.m., $30 to $45 :: Advance tickets

Chad Daniels at The Wilbur

With his kids out of the house, Minnesota native Chad Daniels is experiencing some dreaded “empty nest syndrome,” so hopefully his loyal Boston fanbase can help him get out of his feels for a bit. And hell, with a brand new batch of stories, jokes and different viewpoints, perhaps he can help us stay out of our own feels, as well.

CHAD DANIELS :: Friday, April 12 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $30 to $40 :: Advance Tickets

Daniel Sloss at Academy of Music Theatre

Being an internationally renowned artist is one thing, but to achieve that status while making your shows feel like a close sit-down chat with an old friend is what truly puts Daniel Sloss on a different level. With his 12th solo show (!!!), the Scottish comedy phenom delivers another biting, yet thoughtful diatribe on the absurd little details of life that are sure to pull at a few of our heartstrings.

DANIEL SLOSS: CAN’T :: Sunday, April 14 at Academy of Music Theatre, 247 Main St. in Northampton, MA :: 7:30 p.m., $39.50 to $59.50 :: Advance Tickets

Kumail Nanjiani at The Wilbur

His sense of humor is a beast all by itself, but when you factor in Kumail Nanjiani’s comedic and social intellect, forget it, because you’re in for one of the most well-rounded nights of comedy you’ll see all year. With a heaping dose of silver screen success backing him up, Nanjiani returns to the stand-up stage with a new batch of stories and a fresh perspective — a little bit of everything that won’t hurt us to have these days.

KUMAIL NANJIANI :: Sunday, April 14 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6 p.m., $37 to $47 :: Advance Tickets
