The annual and always-notable Jamaica Plain Music Festival has put out a call for performing bands and artists for its 12th edition, going down September 7 at its longtime home of Pinebank Field at Jamaica Pond. But new for this year is an apparent loosening of the requirement that each participant must have a connection to the Boston neighborhood.
The application to perform at JP Music Fest went out over the weekend, and interested parties can apply via this link.
“[I]f you have a band from another part of town other than JP, we’re interested,” writes co-organizer Rick Berlin on Facebook. “Gentrification has somewhat diminished the pool of artists here. Main assist for us is that you please include a live video performance. Studio recordings under video are great but tell us let about how you are live.”
The free, all-ages JP Music Fest is open to “all styles and genres” featuring “musicians and bands, groups, ensembles, symphonies, choirs, and quartets from Jamaica Plain and beyond.”
Last year’s lineup was highlighted by Muzzins, Aaron and the Lord, Evan Greer, Matt York, and several others.
