Bowling For Soup, 20th Anniversary of A Hangover You Don’t Deserve, September 21

Imagine having a hangover that lasts 20 years? And one that you didn’t even deserve? Sorry Fireball and Jägermeister, but we can’t pin this on you. Instead we turn our faded Pedialyte eyes to Bowling For Soup, the Texas pop-punk band that takes A Hangover You Don’t Deserve out for more 20th anniversary shows this fall. Included in the run is a September 21 bash at Citizens House of Blues here in Boston, and along for the ride are “Teenage Dirtbag” dudes Wheatus and Don’t Panic. Here’s a depressing anecdote: One of the breakout hits on this Bowling For Soup record was “1985,” which threw it all back to the famed decade with playful satire and retro-parody reflections. If the same song were to be released today on that timeline, it would take a look at 2005, just after A Hangover You Don’t Deserve came out. Now that’s a reason to drink. Tickets go on sale Friday (March 29) at noon local time.
