Editor’s NoteWe’re not sure how it’s already March, but let us help you stave off your own madness this month by reminding you that comedy is continuing to do the Lord’s work by giving us something to smile (or groan, wince, or gasp) at. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (March 31).

Boston Comedy Festival at City Winery

It’s not very often you find yourself in the midst of bonafide legends, and legends-in-the-making. But as the long-running festival, a legendary institution itself has shown, that’s just kinda how it rolls when it takes over the territory for a week of high-end hilarity. Join in on the fun as DL Hughley, Kevin Nealon and so many more bring their expertly-crafted art to the stage — and get the full details from our news hit earlier this month.

BOSTON COMEDY FESTIVAL :: Now to Saturday, March 30 at City Winery, 80 Beverly St. in Boston, MA :: Times and prices vary :: Advance tickets and Event Info

Josh Blue at The Wilbur

Having been on the grind for more than 20 years, Josh Blue has maintained the title of one of the industry’s more low-key staples, and for good reason. We advise you to pull that sticky change out of your pocket and grab a ticket to see the Last Comic Standing legend continue his dominance as a down-to-earth presence and genuine all-star storyteller.

JOSH BLUE: THE FREAK ACCIDENT TOUR :: Thursday, March 28 at The Wilbur, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $29 to $39 :: Advance tickets

Ray Harrington at Nick’s Comedy Stop

The comedy of Harrington continues to be the stand-up equivalent of a good quality dapping, where it’s not necessarily laid back or low-key, but definitely comfortable and legit. An ace storyteller, a dynamite joke writer, and always someone you’ll want in charge of bringing your night out into the stratosphere, Harrington returns to the legendary grounds of Nick’s for a weekend of all-around fun and easily digestible comedy.
