DJ Fab collects Boston’s varied ‘LUV.’ songs on new album

Cover Art

If you took the rom-com Valentine’s Day, swapped the cast for a cavalcade of Boston musicians, and flipped the script into 10 songs, the result would look something like DJ Fab’s new album LUV.

The area DJ and producer — who radio listeners might recognize as a mixshow DJ for JAM’N 94.5 — collects the many ways romance can manifest on his new project, which arrived last week (March 15). LUV. splits its titular concept into nearly a dozen different (but equally accurate) forms, delivered by a roster of local collaborators like Miranda Rae, Rosewood Bape, Punky the Singer, and Treva Holmes. The record’s anecdotes play out like a series of emotionally-charged mini dramas, all threaded together by DJ Fab’s suave production.

Spanning simmering jealously (“What About Me”), pleading devotion (“Stay With Me”), and unabashed lust (“Drop That”), the project further proves what we already know: That love is impossible to define. True LUV., on the other hand, is a synonym for collaboration.
