Cold Cave return to the shadows of the dark disco with ‘She Reigns Down’

Via the artist

Over the past 15-plus years or so, Cold Cave have constantly reshaped the sound and aesthetics of modern post-punk and darkwave, providing a black-lit compass for an infinite wave of new acts that revived the genre with a converging influx of goth and synth-pop components. Recent years have found Wes Eisold’s project touring with Depeche Mode and The Cult while re-issuing their early work (what’s the underground’s equivalent of Back To The Future’s “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it”?). Last Friday (March 15), Cold Cave returned with a riveting new track called “She Reigns Down,” a hypnotic twirl through the back halls of the dark disco and an instant fixture across the shadowland dance floors. It’s their first new music in three years, and is dedicated to the spiritually lustful. That means you.
