The ‘Rebel Moon — Part Two’ trailer cuts deep

Rebel Moon

In retrospect, it might have been a bad idea to have a four-month intermission between the first and second parts of Zack Snyder’s Star Wars-without-Star Wars duology Rebel Moon. It’s “What If Seven Samurai But Jedi,” and anybody who’s seen Akira Kurosawa’s classic or one of the dozens of films riffing on it over the years will know that all of the action happens in the third act.

So, if the first movie, A Child of Fire, wasn’t sufficiently action-heavy for your liking, well, you might want to check out Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver when it comes out next month. Based on everything we’ve seen from this trailer that Netflix dropped on Monday, it’ll be nothing but non-stop wacky sci-fi action, and it might give you fewer reasons to go on Twitt- — ooh, we mean X — to complain about how it is slow and dumb or whatever. But hey, that’s just Christmas streaming for you. Too much ham.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis:

‘Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver’ continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made. From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind ‘300,’ ‘Man of Steel,’ and ‘Army of the Dead,’ ‘Rebel Moon’ is a 2-part movie event decades in the making.

Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver will hit Netflix (and, hopefully, some select theaters) on April 19.
