Main Era unleash tempestuous new EP ‘The Bank, a Farmer’

Not now Taylor, we’re in our Main Era era. The Boston band continues a new epoch as part of the Candlepin Records roster with their tempestuous new EP The Bank, a Farmer, released late last month (February 23). The five-track project forms a typhoon of untamable alt-rock that slinks between tempos and textures, never revealing a true eye of the storm (although “Nausea” comes close, in spite of its rattling finale). After wading through murky instrumentals on “Little Guy” and “Contractual,” the seas part for “Stranger,” a gritty gem and early contender for one of 2024’s best Boston rock tunes. So keep the tortured poets this spring — we’ll take The Bank, a Farmer. Tune in below.
