If ever there was someone to delve deep into the very psychology of joke writing, it would be Mike Birbiglia. As it just so happens, with his latest project, that’s exactly what he’s going to do.

As announced on Tuesday (March 5), Birbiglia will serve as the star of a new docu-special, Good One: A Show About Jokes, which is slated to premiere March 26 on Peacock. As a visual adaptation of the popular Vulture podcast Good One: A Podcast About Jokes, the special will follow the Shrewsbury native from Providence to Washington, D.C. as he works on building a new set of material following the success of his smash-hit Broadway show, The Old Man & The Pool.

While progressively gaining more perspective Birbiglia along his tour route, the special will also feature interviews with a number of Birbiglia’s fellow comics like Seth Meyers, Atsuko Okatsuka, Hasan Minhaj and more to talk about the creative journey of curating new jokes from personal truths.

Offering a perspective that dives into the minds of some of comedy’s most creatively fruitful artists, the special also serves as an immersive look into the crafting of jokes from scratch, and the intersection between process and personal. Check out the trailer below.
