BANNERS uses music as a conduit on the tender ‘All That You Made Me’

Most folx have a fair share of difficulty opening up to others and relaying how much they mean to them, and Michael Nelson is no different. However, the Liverpool artist and songwriter behind the BANNERS project chalks up his own personal reservation to a simple fact of being British.

So Nelson utilizes music as a conduit, and the latest flow of genuine emotion arrives in the shape of a tender, piano-led ballad called “All That You Made Me,” which pays homage to his mother. The track will be featured on BANNERS’ forthcoming new album All Back To Mine, surfacing April 19 via Nettwerk, a release that should deliver the rising artist — with more than two billion streams already to his name — to an even higher profile.

“No one is anyone without other people,” Nelson says. “This is a song for the people that make you who you are. As a British lad, I find it a bit hard to tell people how much I care about them, so this is my way of doing it. I recorded this in one take which is a fun experience. You get to about 30 seconds from the end, realize you haven’t messed it up yet, and that’s when the urge to really ruin it kicks in. I really like this performance, it feels really honest.”

It sure does. So take note: Mother’s Day in England arrives this Sunday (March 10); and here in the United States it lands on May 12. She’s hoping to hear from you.
