girl in red, Doing It Again World Tour, April 16

Norwegian alt-pop mainstay girl in red is prepping her “biggest show to you ever”, and it all starts here in Boston. The singer-songwriter and producer born Marie Ulven has announced her Doing It Again World Tour, named for forthcoming new album I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, and the North American leg kicks off with an April 16 twirl at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, just four days after the record drops. Making it all the more exciting is that Vanyaland faves Momma are on board as direct support. Last week, girl in red shared the album’s lead single, a vibrant indie bop called “Too Much.” Ulven has this to say about it: “I’ve always been told I’m ‘Too Much’. Throughout my whole childhood and in my adult years. Getting shut down when I’m at my happiest or most excited made me feel self-conscious, alienated, and weird… It wasn’t until I encountered the same feeling in my relationships, that I realized how much it actually hurt me to never feel fully accepted for who I am. As well I think culturally people tend to be too cool to have fun or to show true excitement and emotions, and I’m so tired of that facade.” Tickets go on sale Friday (February 16) at 10 a.m. local time.
