The Mezz have gone country! The Mezz have gone hip-hop! The Mezz have gone hair metal! And that’s just in the last three minutes.
The rising English band — which caught our attention back in November with “Bridges”, refusing to let go ever since — revealed the new video for “Harbour The Feeling” last week (January 31), and it’s a stylistic journey through parallel genre universes as the gang daydream about various shades of music stardom while they work out of a mechanic shop. What stays the course, however, is The Mezz’s ability to craft pitch-perfect indie jams with genuine arena ambition.
“In this video we wanted to portray a life where holding onto what you believe in is what brings you the most in life,” says The Mezz’s Ben Comley, “through our own silly humour and fun nature of why we are all in a band together in the first place.”
Director Shaun Dagnall adds: “Four out-of-place mechanics with more creative aspirations, and a boss that doesn’t quite see eye to eye. Forming a rock band is the dream, but each of them have wildly different perspectives on what that should look like… Was such a fun concept to play around with, bringing some iconic band magazine covers to life was a real blast, too.”
It sure looks like it. “Harbour The Feeling,” along with “Bridges” three other tracks, will be included on the band’s forthcoming EP, The Mezz, set for March 8 release via AWAL. Get on board now, as stardom — however one envisions it — likely awaits.
