What the world needs now (still, and probably more than ever) is Bikini Kill. The resurrected feminist punk band led by Kathleen Hanna has announced a North American tour for the summer, and included in the itinerary is — at least so far — a lone New England date, a September 6 twirl at State Theatre in Portland, Maine.
The stateside shows follow a run of March appearances in South America and June gigs in Europe. The 16-date North American tour starts August 15 in Los Angeles for the first of two shows at The Wiltern, and wraps September 11 in Baltimore.
Bikini Kill first reformed in 2019, playing their first live shows in more than 20 years. The upcoming tour showcases the iconic line-up of Hanna on vocals; Tobi Vail on drums; and Kathi Wilcox on bass; with guitarist Sara Landeau rounding things out.
