We said it when Small Black came to town last year, and we’ll say it again: 10th anniversary tours for albums that dropped in 2013 are twisting out brains inside out. The latest to celebrate the milestone for a time that still feels like yesterday is Lucius, who dust off debut record Wildewoman for an anniversary tour that delivers the indie-pop group to Boston’s Citizens House of Blues this evening (February 2).
“Wildewoman was our first born, and in a lot of ways, the one that feels closest to the chest,” Lucius write. “It was the first time we really toured, had fans (!!!) singing along to our songs, traveled the world doing what we loved, and proved that with hard work & dedication, we could make a living as artists… Lately, we’ve been wanting to get back to that feeling, back to the heart of it all; we are writing new music and it’s feeling really good… but in doing that, we wanted to take a pause to honor & revisit that special time with all of you.”
It should be a special evening, as even though Lucius technically began in Brooklyn, project ringleaders Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig first met and started playing music together in the mid-2000s as students at Berklee College of Music. So there’s a little bit of a homecoming vibe to this show, as well.
