Grab a date/carpool buddy: New Hampshire’s alternative spring fling is back. The Thing in the Spring has announced the lineup for its 2024 edition, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19 at Nova Arts Block in downtown Keene.
Artists with top billing this year include Earth, Buck Meek, and The Messthetics & James Brandon, who organically represent the festival’s traditional melange of rock, folk, and jazz performers. Major portions of the lineup zigzag across the globe, gleaning talent from as far away as Vietnam (Felicia Cruz) and as nearby as neighboring town Peterborough (Modern Fools).
New England’s presence on the bill remains robust, with acts like New Hampshire’s Rick Rude, Connecticut’s The Huntress and Holder of Hands, and Vermont’s Paper Castles repping different corners of the region. Peabody-born musician and “Song Exploder” podcaster Hrishikesh Hirway is among the many Massachusetts artists on the bill, along with Pink Navel (pictured above), Grazen, Stoner Will and the Narcs, and The Leafies You Gave Me, among others.
This year marks The Thing in the Spring’s third year in Keene, after relocating from Peterborough in 2022. Throughout the weekend, performances will alternate between indoor and outdoor stages at Nova Arts Block, a versatile venue that also houses Brewbakers Cafe, an organic coffee roastery, and a rotating stock of vinyl from two record shops.
Single day tickets are $40, and all-weekend passes are $100. View the schedule here before you snag your tickets.
