This Show Is Tonight: Mick Jenkins brings ‘The Patience’ to Boston

Courtesy of Crossroads Presents

Mick Jenkins has no issues with playing it cool. The Chicago rapper dropped acclaimed new album The Patience last summer, and now takes it out across North America in this early stretch of 2024 for the Thank You For Waiting Tour, which hits the Paradise Rock Club this evening (January 24). The new record is Jenkins’ first since 2021’s Elephant in the Room, continuing a rise that began with 2014 mixtape The Water[s]. And with The Patience, Jenkins deviates from his usual concept-driven method of crafting albums, instead experimenting with a more organic approach: “A lot of these new songs were made when I stopped focusing on a concept and just wrote spontaneously to the beat,” says Jenkins. “It gave me a new level of freedom.” Get fired up for tonight with the video for “Mop,” which hit in the fall.

MICK JENKINS + TOBi :: Wednesday, January 24 at The Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., all ages, $22 :: Event info :: Advance tickets
