Tysk Tysk Task supply a tonic for the ‘Intolerable’ with new single

Missing a solid band at the city’s biggest music festival? That’s straight-up intolerable. So Tysk Tysk Task are getting the word out about their Boston Calling set this year nice ’n’ early with a new single. The Lowell group dropped their track “Intolerable” earlier this month (January 5) in tangent with news that they’ll storm Boston Calling on Sunday, May 26, one of many Massachusetts acts to perform at the fest this Memorial Day weekend.

The tune follows Tysk Tysk Task’s 2022 record You’re Sorry More with overlapping ripples of garage rock and grunge, too melodic to be a dirge, yet too downtrodden to imbue any optimism.

“I crush things up for tea and wait to read your mind,” vocalist and guitarist Samantha Hartsel sings, as if bracing for a bad omen. We may never know what she discerned from the clumps of leaves in her cup — but if the disapproving tone of “Intolerable” is to be believed, the unbearable relationship likely circled the drain alongside any excess tea.
