Siamese Dreaming: Here’s a chance to become Smashing Pumpkins’ new guitarist

The world may be a vampire, but it still needs guitarists. And now Smashing Pumpkins have opened things up for someone to come in and join the band in 2024.

Billy Corgan and the boys took to the modern-day help wanted section, social media, on Friday afternoon (January 5) to solicit the role of a new “additional guitarist”. And that person could be you, even after your ex once said that playing “1979” all alone in your Allston bedroom all day and night would “get you nowhere.” Shows what they know.

“The application process is open to anyone who might be interested,” the Pumpkins’ graphic reads. “Applicants may submit a resume and related materials to: SPGuitar@redlightmanagement.com.”

Last fall, longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder announced he was leaving the band after more than 15 years. So presumably this open call is to fill his vacated roll.

The Smashing Pumpkins have a busy year ahead, touring Europe in June and July before heading back to North America for a summer stadium tour with Green Day, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas. That second tour hits Fenway Park in Boston on August 7.

Good luck.
