There’s one particular lyric on Rosewood Bape’s new record that stands out as self-fulfilling prophecy. “Might need to go somewhere soundproof,” the Boston artist boasts on “Higher,” seemingly egging on listeners to isolate themselves and blast ROSE FROM NOTHING.
It’s a line laced with amorous intentions, of course, but out of context, there’s perhaps no better quip to summarize the bravado coursing through the new project, which dropped today (January 4). Comprised of 15 tracks — practically an epic by 2024’s standards — ROSE FROM NOTHING presents Bape culling inspiration from eras new and old, whether catapulting a Cyndi Lauper classic into the 21st century or collaborating with current Boston standouts like MILLYZ and $hayBand$.
Think of it this way: Rosewood Bape rose from nothing so you could raise the volume.
