It’s staggering that it’s taken nearly 15 years for a media company to greenlight and produce the third installment of Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, and Steven Spielberg’s TV surveys and dramatizations of the various branches of the U.S. Military in World War II — sure, they’re expensive, but you’d think that someone would want the sequel series to Band of Brothers (the Army) and The Pacific (the Navy). Turns out all that was needed was a deep-pocketed tech company like Apple, who will be bringing Masters of the Air, the triumvirate’s series about the Air Force, to your TV screen next month.

This is a triple-A endeavor: The cast includes the likes of Austin Butler, Barry Keoghan and Callum Turner, while the list of directors for individual episodes is outright stunning, including the likes of Dee Rees, Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden, Tim Van Patten and Cary Joji Fukunaga. So, all of those Dads-at-heart and actual dads out there should watch this trailer the streamer dropped on Wednesday and start preparing their dens to maximize their TV-watching experience.

Need a new soundbar? Go fucking buy one! When else are they gonna make another one of these?

Take a look:

Here’s a synopsis:

“Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, ‘Masters of the Air’ follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the ‘Bloody Hundredth’) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of ‘Masters of the Air.’ Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.”

The first episode of Masters of the Air will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 26.
