The Jesus and Mary Chain drop a gritty new dose called ‘jamcod’

With all the bands out there trying to sound like The Jesus and Mary Chain, it only makes sense for the Scottish icons to serve a dose of gritty sonic bliss of their own. The brothers Jim and William Reid return today (November 29) with a spectacular new dark electronic tidal wave called “jamcod” — spell it out, yeah — that sets a noisy tone for new album Glasgow Eyes, which hits in March via Fuzz Club.

Next year marks the Mary Chain’s 40th year as a band, and as the Automatic-flavored “jamcod” proves, there’s still plenty more left in the tank. Glasgow Eyes is the follow-up to 2017’s Damage and Joy. So what can we expect, eh?

“People should expect a Jesus and Mary Chain record, and that’s certainly what Glasgow Eyes is,” quips Jim Reid. “Our creative approach is remarkably the same as it was in 1984, just hit the studio and see what happens. We went in with a bunch of songs and let it take its course. There are no rules, you just do whatever it takes. And there’s a telepathy there — we are those weird not-quite twins that finish each other’s sentences.”

Indulge below.
