In our darkest moments, we all hope we can eventually emerge on the other side into a safer, more secure space. And maybe even raise a pint to both acknowledge the journey and celebrate the destination. That’s at the core of “White Noise,” the haunting new single from Wyn & The White Light, which examines the confusion and fear Wyn Doran experienced recently while sick in isolation.
“I wrote it while I was stuck abroad in a run-down hospital hotel room with COVID last year,” Doran tells Vanyaland, “and funneling all of the angst of the brokenness of our society into music.”
With its urgent riffs and specter of the unknown fluttering above every word and note, the swirling and soulful “White Noise” hits the streams today (November 7). Later this week, Amesbury’s BareWolf Brewing launches a White IPA in the name of the song, with the band performing live at the free, all-ages beer launch this Saturday (November 11).
Doran and bassist Lucia Jean first met while working in the beer industry, so linking this project, rounded out by drummer Heidi Tierney, with a brewery for this particular single makes sense, celebrating a welcome emergence out of some frightful situations. And BareWolf agrees.
“Music and beer have always been a great pairing — much like music, beer uses a finite set of variables to arrive at a nearly infinite array of creation,” says BareWolf brewer Wylie Bednar. “This beer was created to commemorate the release of ‘White Noise’. Much like the song, the White IPA is big but restrained, approachable yet complex, and classic but modern.”
“White Noise” will be featured on the trio’s forthcoming album Luck, which is set for release this winter and billed as a “journey through the divine feminine and near-death experience.” Crank it up below.
