John-Robert knows you’re the only one he loves on ‘Sweet Child’

Ya gotta hand it to John-Robert. The Virginia native bypassed a Berklee College of Music scholarship in order to chase his musical dreams on his own terms, and the bet is already paying off. Grammy-nominated producer Ricky Reed (Leon Bridges, Lizzo) signed the Los Angeles-based artist to Nice Life/Warner Records when he was 19, and several million streams after arriving on the scene in 2019, the world is starting to take notice.

Now John-Robert is prepping a new EP, Garden Snake, set for December 8 release via Nice Life, and today (November 6) another tone is set with a music video for its lead single, a chilled-out indie haze of a jam called “Sweet Child.” Watch it below.

“We stole shots, thrifted costuming, and made papier-mâché masks,” John-Robert says of the visual. “We were inspired by the Teletubbies and other oddball children’s programming. Looking cute in three different locations doesn’t suit me. I’d much rather create characters, make up small storylines and create a world where my humor feels accepted. Being comfortable enough to be silly is cool to me. Bryce Glenn and Sean Cavaliere, from Good Morning Studios, made this vision a reality; along with the phenomenal team of friends we assembled.”

Get to know the dude before everyone else does.
