They say the vibrant fall is the most important time of year for new music, but The Drowns are already looking ahead to the dead of winter. Well, kinda-sorta! The Seattle punk band have announced their new album Blacked Out, set for February 16 release via Pirates Press Records, and with it comes the raucous title track, and it sets a mighty tone for the LP with its gritty, shout-along appeal. Plus, it’s all about the good times, and motherfuckers we need more of that vibe.
“‘Blacked Out’ is about our crazy lives as nonstop touring musicians,” says The Drowns’ frontman Rev. “It’s a crazy life that we wouldn’t change for the world. I get to travel the world with my three best friends.”
Keeping it truly old school in both sound and vision, The Drowns have also crafted 5,000 picture flexies, which we assume is part of the benefits of linking up with the always awesome Pirates Press. They’re available on the label’s webstore as a throw-in with any purchase, and soon will make way to local record shops and The Drowns’ merch table. We’re told the band will be spending pretty much all of 2024 on the road promoting the record, so hopefully a few are still kicking around when they make their way back to Boston.
