While most of New England is gearing up for a sleepy November, Iris Pope is bursting onto the scene with her new EP Awakening. “To call it anything else would be dishonest to what it is,” says the Boston artist, who today (October 27) dropped her debut project, a collection of delicate pop that’s easy on the ears but often urgent in its respective messages. Whether coming to terms with the quickly-spinning hands of the clock (“back to today”) or hammering out solutions “before we’re buried and so dead” (“i like us better”), Awakening keeps its watchful eyes wide open, pocketing life’s overlooked details and fleeting impulses for inspiration. Tune in below before you fall into an autumnal slumber.
