This Show Is Tonight: Small Black celebrate 10 years of ‘Limits of Desire’

Courtesy of Crossroads Presents

It’s a total head trip to imagine albums from 2013 being both remastered for re-release and taken out on a decade-level anniversary tour, but 2023 is full of realities both harsh and happy. The latter applies to Small Black, the electronic music band from Brooklyn who this year celebrate the 10-year anniversary of sophomore album Limits of Desire. First came the deluxe vinyl reissue in August via Jagjaguwar, then the tour followed, bringing Josh Kolenik and the boys to Brighton Music Hall in Allston tonight (October 23). Small Black will play the lush, textured album in full alongside other faves, and we’ll all be given a reminder of just how sweet life was back when chillwave ruled our playlists and going out on a Monday didn’t bother us at all. Get free at dusk, worry about dawn later.

SMALL BLACK + GEOGRAPHER + CLAIR GEORGE :: Monday, October 23 at BrightonMusic Hall, 158 Brighton Ave. in Allston, MA :: 7 p.m., 18-plus, $23 :: Event info :: Advance tickets
