††† (Crosses), Familiar World Tour, February 19
When the online music community breathlessly debates Deftones’ place in the world, Chino Moreno stays busy dropping new beats. †††, or Crosses, the vocalist’s electronic project with Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, returned last year after a lengthy hiatus, and this week released new album Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete., their first in nine years and the follow-up to last year’s EP Permanent.Radiant. The record features appearances from Robert Smith of The Cure and Run The Jewels’ El-P, and here’s what Moreno has to say about it: “When we started working on Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete., there was so much more light coming in my life, for numerous reasons. There’s a lot more optimism. Even the darker themes are more romanticized and not coming from a place of despair.” With the rush of new music comes the duo’s first proper tour in roughly a decade, and a North American tour rings them to Citizens House of Blues on February 19. Tickets go on sale Thursday (October 19) at 10 a.m. local time.
