‘Planet of the Bass’ crashes the Jonas Brothers’ show in Boston

“Planet of the Bass” has collided with Boston at a… Jonas Brothers concert.

The official video for the viral Eurodance parody — created by DJ Crazy Times, a.k.a. comedian Kyle Gordon — may have debuted on YouTube yesterday, but fans of the JoBros gathered at TD Garden last night (August 15) witnessed the living meme in person, as Gordon stormed the stage to encourage “losing control on a floor.”

The quick cameo directly followed an intermission in the middle of the brothers’ behemoth three-hour set. An announcer introduced Gordon’s performance as a treat for Joe Jonas’ 34th birthday — and by “performance” we mean jumping and shouting generic (and therefore on-brand) catchphrases onstage while the new music video played in the background. The few folks who understood the bit did, in fact, “movement.”

The Jonas Brothers’ tour began less than a week ago with two sold out shows at Yankee Stadium, where Jimmy Fallon took the stage post-intermission instead. Many attendees from the New York show were not amused by the sudden change in guests. “I cannot believe I had to watch Jimmy Fallon sing Mr. Brightside on Sunday while Boston got Planet Of The Bass,” comments one account. Adds another disgruntled fan: “YOU’RE KIDDING???!!!! We got Jimmy Fallon and they got THIS????”

The Jonas Brothers will return to TD Garden for a second performance tonight, although no one is sure if Gordon will make a repeat appearance.
