Eliza McLamb puts adolescence on cruise control with ‘Mythologize Me’

We’re here for Eliza McLamb. We’re here for a potential feel-good indie hit of the summer. And we’re here for the production wizardry of Sarah Tudzin (illuminati hotties). Those three things all come together in a cosmic kinda way on “Mythologize Me,” a buoyant indie rock bobber that hits the streams today (August 9) via Royal Mountain Records.

The North Carolina singer-songwriter and co-host of pop-culture podcast Binchtopia takes us on a journey to explore a relatable story about adolescence, but “Mythologize Me” also just sounds so darn warm and comforting cruising out of the speakers. And it has enough allure to roll down the windows on its own.

“‘Mythologize Me’ is a song best played in your car when you’re driving home, alone, from a party you didn’t want to go to but wanted to be seen at,” McLamb says. “It’s for those moments when you’re talking to a man who wants you to be a person who does less of the talking. It’s for the end of a long adolescence of trying to figure out who you are and deciding that, maybe, you’ll let other people decide for you.”

Go ahead and play it before all those things, too.
