Signature Sounds grows support for local farmers on Bandcamp Friday

On Bandcamp Fridays, most artists and record labels are eager to take home an extra chunk of change, courtesy of waived revenue shares from the online distribution platform. But today, Signature Sounds is growing hope for struggling farmers instead.

The Northampton label will donate 100 percent of their proceeds from Bandcamp Friday to the Massachusetts Farm Resiliency Fund, a fund created to assist farms across the state who have lost crops to this summer’s continued severe weather. The United Way of Central Massachusetts started the fund earlier this year to assist over 7200 local farms and the people who rely on them: Farmers and their families, farm employees, and people find food security through food banks.

From music to merchandise like shirts and posters, any purchases from Signature Sounds’ Bandcamp page today will directly contribute to their donation. The label’s roster spans nearly 40 artists, including Massachusetts locals Lori McKenna, Ali McGuirk, Mark Erelli, Twisted Pine, And The Kids, Winterpills, Crooked Still, Joy Kills Sorrow, and Lake Street Dive (now based in Brooklyn, pictured above).
