We often subscribe to a notion that music aligns with the seasons, so it’s a pretty safe bet that a band called Summerdive is set to deliver the goods with a mid-July single. And that’s certainly the case with the perfectly-named “Shimmer,” a technicolor synth-kissed alt-pop track from the New York trio that livens up the streams today (July 14). “The overarching idea of the song is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not,” Summerdive say. “Visiting the places that you’ve been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did. Ultimately realizing that sometimes it’s out of our control how these things end up.” Feels like summer, sounds like summer.
