Cold Cave, September 21
A run supporting Depeche Mode, proper placement in the fall’s Darker Waves festival, and a vinyl re-issue of several of their early records via Heartworm Press — there’s always something happening in the shadowy world of Cold Cave. Now we can add a North American tour to the list, as Wes Eisold’s influential darkwave and modern post-punk project brings a grayscale illumination to the Paradise Rock Club on September 21. As we noted earlier in the week, Boston audiences will get a support slot from Dais Records artist SRSQ for this gig, making it one of the most exciting shows of the calendar as summer fades to fall and everything just gets colder. Tickets go on sale Thursday (June 29) at 10 a.m. local time.
Slow Pulp, November 3
Fresh off a handful of spring dates with PIXIES, Slow Pulp have this week unveiled a headlining tour of North America that plays Brighton Music Hall on November 3. The Boston date arrives a few weeks after the Chicago-via-Wisconsin band release new album, Yard, via ANTI-, and the record features the just-released fuzzed-out single “Slugs.” Here’s what Slow Pulp’s Emily Massey has to say about it: “‘Slugs,’ put simply, is about falling in love in the summertime. The song lives in that place where the newness and freshness of getting to know someone turns into a tinge of fear because you realize how much you have come to care about them. …But suddenly, for the first time, I found myself in something that felt safe, with healthy attachment and mutual admiration. I think it’s so sweet that the song found this full circle moment in the timelessness of different types of firsts in love.” Tickets go on sale Friday (June 30) at 10 a.m. local time.
