Rebuilder just laid the foundation for a future with A-F Records. The Boston group announced last week (May 31) that they’ve inked a deal with Anti-Flag’s Pittsburgh label, while simultaneously serving up their first new release since Live From 2021.
Enter “Hold On,” a half-song, half-time-capsule that submerges listeners in the grueling pressure cooker we now simply call “2020.” It’s a single that’s hellbent on breaking away from the cruelty and claustrophobia of the pandemic — yet finds itself clinging to a few morsels of hope in spite of the misery.
“I was emotionally exhausted,” recalls vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Sal Ellington. “The pandemic was happening, my best friend/roommate had moved away, and my outlet of playing shows didn’t exist anymore. I wasn’t even sure if myself or the band wanted to be a band.”
Rebuilder’s recording engineer, Jay Maas, had a different perspective,
“Jay told me something along the lines of ‘You’ve worked really hard and if you have this thing that you love a lot and don’t think you should end it. I wouldn’t let that go,'” he adds.
And to this day, Ellington — and Rebuilder — are still proudly holding on.
Tune in to the band’s fist release with A-F Records below.
