Danzig, 35th Anniversary of Danzig, September 11

This summer marks the 35th anniversary of Danzig’s self-titled debut album, and Glenn is taking the iconic record out on the road. Included in the 14 dates is a September 11 romp at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, with Behemoth, Twin Temple, and Midnight in on the action. Giving us hard rock classics like “Mother” and “She Rides,” Danzig dropped in August ’88 via producer Rick Rubin’s then-fresh label Def American Recordings, and marked a new era for Glenn Danzig as he moved away from the horror-punk legacies of Misfits and Samhain. On this “35th Anniversary of Danzig” tour, we’ll hear the classic album in full plus other devilish treats. Just leave those cameras at home and keep your phones in your leather pockets. Tickets to the MGM show go on sale Friday (June 2) at 10 a.m. local time.

Boys Like Girls, The Speaking Our Language Tour presented by Emo Nite, October 26

By any measure, 11 years is a long time. But in pop music, it’s a damn near eternity. So it feels like a tiny miracle we now have a comeback from Boys Like Girls, the glossy comet of a Boston pop-rock group that plays MGM Music Hall at Fenway on October 26. They dropped a new track is called “Blood and Sugar,” it’s a thunderous jolt of ’80s throwback flair and heavy modern production, and it’s just the start of a larger comeback for songwriter Martin Johnson and the boys. “Thematically the song is fairly simple, an empty calorie relationship that’s so delicious you don’t care,” says Johnson. “You’re willing to deal with the crash. It continues to beat you down yet you keep coming back for more pain… almost like you’ve learned to love it. Why this obsession? We’re only skin and bone. Humans. Just blood and sugar, really.” Tickets go on sale Friday (June 2) at 10 a.m. local time.
