The Q-Tip Bandits ‘Tip Toe’ through young love in new single

Run — don’t tiptoe — to hear The Q-Tip Bandits play their jubilant new single at Boston Calling this weekend. The Boston indie-pop band bring “Tip Toe” — a full-bodied, charismatic tongue-twister — to the Blue Stage at the Harvard Athletic Complex on Saturday (May 27), just a week after dropping the followup to 2022’s Melancholy Flowers.

“‘Tip Toe’ is a song about rebellious young love — the feeling of sneaking out of a lover’s window, and loving someone as a means to feel loved,” says vocalist and guitarist Leo Son. His wordplay works overtime as Son weaves through a labyrinth of syllables: “He’s a morphine mentalist / With a melancholic floral wit / Oh, what a cryptic kid.”

Complete with a sly nod to The Q-Tip Bandits’ last album, “Tip Toe” presents an ideal introduction to the group in a festival setting — and an even better soundtrack for snagging new fans.

Tune in below.
