Joe Bermudez keeps ‘Cinderella’ out past midnight in new video

A stodgy 19th-century ball ain’t got nothing on an all-night romp at the local barcade.

Joe Bermudez breaks The Brothers Grimm’s oldest curse-slash-curfew in his video “Cinderella,” a modern reimagining of the classic fairytale shot at New Bedford’s PLAY Arcade. The new visual from the Boston DJ — which features New Hampshire singer and Berklee grad Amanda Brigham — dropped today (May 22), serving up an after-hours cocktail of euphoria and neon nightlife.

“I kept asking myself how Cinderella would feel if she didn’t have to rush out of the party right before midnight, and could keep dancing,” Bermudez tells Vanyaland about the concept, which came to him when he caught Cinderella on TV in the wee hours of the morning. “[About] how incredibly amazing someone must be that she wouldn’t want to leave their side despite the consequences — and how to bring this twist on a classic fairytale to life.”

Besides — threats about carriages and pumpkins don’t mean much in the age of Uber.
