When the din of self-doubt clutters Qwan?’s mind, he bumps his new single even louder.
The Randolph rapper refreshes his headspace with “Feel Me?”, a tranquil new track about “getting over my self-criticism and finding strengths through my flaws,” as he explains to Vanyaland. Qwan? dropped the song last Friday (May 5), quieting unproductive scrutiny with affirmations.
Much like his 2019 project Record Shop, Qwan’s slick work with samples on “Feel Me?” offers a soothing effect — but that doesn’t mean it glosses over the harsher realities of the artist’s life. “Let’s reminisce for a while / Like when me and the fam was crowded around with no heat in the house / And had to be quiet when police came around,” he raps, offering fragments of the past to contextualize Qwan?’s journey towards a self-assured present.
The succinct two-minute track ultimately boils down to its first line: “Took a little while to say that I’m feeling myself.” But we suspect listeners will be digging “Feel Me” in an instant.
