And then there were three. After six preliminary rounds, two semifinals, and an onslaught of face-melting riffs, the Rock and Roll Rumble will conclude next weekend with a final showdown between mod-pop trio The Chelsea Curve, Salem-based melodic punk band One Fall, and the wild card entry, rock n’ brass brigade Ruin The Nite (pictured), per today’s announcement via Boston Emissions.
The last round of the “World Series of Boston Rock” kicks off Saturday, May 6 at Sonia, featuring rivaling sets among the three finalists and a performance from past Rumble winners Eddie Japan, celebrating a decade since their 2013 coronation (coincidentally, the ’13 Rumble was held at T.T. The Bear’s Place, the beloved Cambridge venue that eventually became Sonia after the neighboring Middle East purchased the property two years later).
Next Saturday’s victor will succeed 2019 champions Set Fire, the Rumble’s final winner before a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
