The NHL playoffs are set, the NBA playoffs are rolling, and soon, the Rock And Roll Rumble will be looking ahead to its semi-finals stage next weekend. But not before one last preliminary-round throwdown, as Night 6 of the first round of the “World Series of Boston Rock” goes down tonight (April 15) at The Middle East in Cambridge. Last night, mod-pop trio The Chelsea Curve secured victory, earning a trip to the upcoming semis at Sonia alongside Thursday night winner Ruin The Nite and wild card entry Bird Language (who coincidentally both share a member in Jeff “Chip” Nicolai).
The last band to round out the playoff field will certainly earn its spot, and advance from a varied and tough lineup as tonight delivers what should be a rowdy evening featuring eclectic rock uplifters Wildcat Slim (9 p.m., pictured); hook-heavy pop-rock dudes Devil Love (9:45 p.m.); Americana-punk brigade Michael Kane & The Morning Afters (10:30 p.m.); and power-pop sparkplugs Donaher (11:15 p.m.)
Sunday morning has been put on notice.
