We’ve reached the halfway point of the Rock And Roll Rumble preliminary round, and things should only get louder from here. But first, a quick recap: The first three prelim nights last weekend were won by Kooked Out, Not Bad Not Well, and One Fall, respectively, and curator Anngelle Wood revealed on Boston Emissions earlier this week that Bird Language had secured the first wild card slot. All four bands move on to the semi-finals.
But not before the remaining three prelim parties get underway at The Middle East in Cambridge through the weekend, and tonight (April 13) featured another stellar quartet of bands battling it out in the vaunted “World Series of Boston rock.” On tap for this evening are noise-rock trio The Freqs (9 p.m.); psych-punk powderkeg The Endorphins (9:45 p.m.), indie-grunge trio Tysk Tysk Task (10:30 p.m., pictured up top); and rock n’ brass brigade Ruin The Nite (11:15 p.m.), who bring a heavy dose of member DNA from 2014 Rumble champs Goddamn Draculas.
It should be a fun, loud, and chaotic Rumble night in Central Square. Friday morning doesn’t stand a fucking chance.
