The fine lads of Inhaler are currently buzzing through the United States, taking last month’s Cuts & Bruises album out to the engaged masses. The run included a St. Patrick’s weekend appearance here in Boston, and wraps next week with a pair of gigs in Los Angeles. We bring all this up because the Irish alt-rock band’s latest single, the yearning, rootsy “If You’re Gonna Break My Heart,” takes a cue from Inhaler’s recent stateside romps. The cut resurfaced yesterday (March 27) with a Hugh Mulhern-directed video that merges a very American-minded Spaghetti Western theme with a global lean into modern AI technology.
“Whilst on tour in America last year we were listening to a lot of music by some of the great American writers such as Bob Dylan, The Band, Bruce Springsteen etc.,” Inhaler reveal. “Listening to these artists while traveling on big open highways resonated with us and helped shape this song into making us sound more like a live band than we had before.”
