The Boston singer and producer would rather be signing checks backstage or at the bank — ideally, one after the other — in her newest music video “Places,” released last week (March 9). “Telling all your friends / How you’ll get me back someday / I ain’t banking on a future / But I got plans to stack this paper, homie” she cracks on the first verse, lapping a sinking, dead-weight ex while she’s on the up-and-up. The song and video cross a winking kiss off with a bittersweet kiss goodbye, binding the emotional dichotomies with self-reflection and preservation.
